The 17-year-old, also a Wadsworth resident, was in the Cleveland area when detectives learned of his possible involvement in the death of Margaret Douglas, according to a news release from Wadsworth police. Police did not name the teen and said as of Tuesday he had not been formally charged.
Douglas, a widow, was found in a closet in her home on April 9.
An out-of-town relative notified police of possible trouble after Douglas' friends said they had not seen her in five or six days, around April 3.
Police initially did not find Douglas when they first searched her home and saw no evidence of foul play. The case was regarded at first as a missing person.
Fairview Park Police arrested the teen without incident around 3:30 p.m. on Monday and transferred him to Wadsworth police, according to the news release. Police said they believe the teen acted alone.
