Teen cited for impaired driving and drug charges after Norwalk traffic stop

An area teen was arrested for allegedly operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI) in Norwalk.

The traffic stop happened at 12:33 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Spring Street and Whittlesey Avenue, according to a Norwalk police report.

Zachary Rinner, 18, of Huron, was arrested for OVI, police said.

Rinner also was charged with possession of less than 100 grams of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and having no license plate light, police said. He provided a urine sample and was later released to a sober person.

A passenger, Logan Benfer,18, of 153 N. Ridge St., Monroeville, was also arrested on an active warrant through the Huron Municipal Court. The warrant was issued for contempt. Benfer later was transferred to the custody of a Huron police officer.

About 24 later, Norwalk police made another arrest for suspected impaired driving.

At 1:11 a.m. Wednesday, Janelle D. Newman, 24, of Willard, was arrested and charged with OVI and no operator’s license, police said. She was transported to the station, where she provided a sample of her urine.

The vehicle was towed by Norb’s Towing and a holder was placed on it, police said.
