A local teenager was cited after two vehicles collided at a Monroeville-area intersection.

Alyssa Strayer, 17, of Willard, was driving a vehicle south on Sandhill Road at 6:44 p.m. Thursday when she failed to stop at the stop sign at Ohio 547 and entered the intersection, leading to a collision with a westbound vehicle being driven by Robert Jones, 37, of Norwalk, said troopers with the Norwalk post of the state Highway Patrol.

Strayer’s vehicle went off the right side of the road and hit a sign before coming to rest in a yard. Jones’ vehicle came to a stop in the intersection.

Strayer reported possible injuries, but was not treated at the scene or transported the hospital, troopers said. Jones reported non-capacitating injuries and was treated at the scene by North Central EMS.

Strayer was charged for a stop sign violation.

Troopers handled another accident involving a teen driver recently.

Joyce King, 19, of Sandusky, was driving a vehicle north on Ohio 103 at 12:22 a.m. Feb. 25 when she lost control in the curve, went off the north side of the road and hit a ditch, troopers said. King was cited for failure to control.
