BELLEVUE — A Bellevue woman was jailed after authorities reportedly caught her with a suspected drug abuse instrument.

Mercedes J. Dendinger, 24, of 6561 County Road 191, Bellevue, was booked into the Huron County Jail on Tuesday afternoon on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and a drug abuse instrument. As of Friday afternoon, she remained jailed, unable to post a $5,000 bond.

At 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office contacted Bellevue police, saying a male deputy had Dendinger in custody at 8700 County Road 269 on a Bellevue warrant. He requested a female officer come to the scene because he believed “she put something down her bra,” according to a Bellevue police report.

Bellevue Police Officer Carla Schaffer searched Dendinger and found a syringe in her bra, the report said.

Dendinger then was arrested on the warrant, and the deputy also issued two citations for possession of a drug abuse instrument and obstructing justice. She was taken to the Bellevue police station and then to the jail.
