Teen calls 9-1-1 after neighbor's dog is hit by car

BELLEVUE — A 19-year-old city man called 9-1-1 after witnessing a neighbor’s dog get hit by a car.

The man was walking his dogs at 4:30 p.m. Sunday on North Sandusky Street when a small dog on the other side of the street ran toward him and into the path of a northbound station wagon being driven by David James, 54, of Norwalk, according to a police report.

Police said the dog had died from its injuries before they arrived.

Police went to the residence where the dog had been staying and talked with a boy, who told them the dog’s owner was out of town. The boy also told police the dog had been loose, playing with a neighbor’s dog.
