This achievement required many years of training and clinical practice. Colvin is now one of two registered herbalists in Ohio. The American Herbalist Guild was founded in 1989 and is known for promoting a high level of professionalism and education in the study and practice of therapeutic herbalism; its members specialize in the medicinal use of plants.
The public is invited to join Colvin and her friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Nature Knows, 50 N. Linwood Ave. to celebrate her huge accomplishment.
Colvin is the owner of Ancestral Herbology LLC, which offers personal consultations for individuals (in-person, online and over the phone), Reiki sessions and personal training in herbalism. Ancestral Herbology is available to conduct presentations and workshops for a business or group. Colvin is certified in nutritional therapy and supports her clients in their many unique situations specializing in the balance and function of the nervous and digestive systems.
An avid gardener for more than 25 years raising vegetables, herbs and perennials, Colvin also is an advocate for organic gardening. Along with being a clinical herbalist, she is a practical Reiki master, teacher and author. She contributes to her blog post “Mary's Marc” at ancestralherbology.com and other publications such as “Living Healthy Magalog.” Colvin is the author of “Grow and Harvest Ten Medicinal Herbs in Your Backyard.” She is also a member of the American Botanical Council and United Plant Savers.
Her family support consists of her husband of 19 years and three children.
