• Mar 18, 2019 at 10:00 AM

SANDSUKY — Colleen Barry has recently completed her certification as a Substance Abuse Practitioner (CSAP).

Barry started with Firelands Regional Medical Center as a nurse’s aide in 2011. She has been working in FRMC’s Counseling and Recovery Services for over three years.

“My favorite part of working here at Firelands is being part of an amazing team,” she said.

Barry provides primary and prevention care to patients who are diagnosed with substance use disorder and/or mental health disorders. This program is part of Firelands Counseling and Recovery Services Plus. This service involves Firelands Counseling and Recovery Services and primary care providers to provide Behavioral Healthcare Services and Primary Medical Care Services under “one roof.”

“Our Counseling and Recovery Services Plus is a collaboration between case managers, nurses, therapists and providers,” Berry said. “Our goal is to meet our patients where they are in their recovery process, and give them the tools they need to get well. I have witnessed some incredible success stories, and I am truly blessed to play a part in bringing someone out of active addiction, and into long-term recovery.”

There are no other CSAPs in the nearby area, according to FRMC.
