Cameras put in 2 more statehouse rooms

COLUMBUS — Two additional committee rooms have been equipped with cameras at the Statehouse — rooms 114 and 115. This follows the installation of cameras in Statehouse Rooms 017 and 018 since Speaker Larry Householder (R-Glenford) gained his position as speaker.

Four more committee rooms are scheduled to be outfitted with cameras, with the installation of the cameras expected to be completed over the summer break.

“I am pleased to have two more committee rooms come on-line after unveiling the first new committee room with cameras last month,” he said. “This will allow the public to have un-filtered and un-edited access to what goes on at the statehouse.”

Householder is making all House committees available to the public through a livestream for the first time. This will open up access and make the work at the statehouse more transparent. As more cameras are installed in the other committee rooms, more committees will be able to be viewed online. Once cameras are fully installed in committee rooms by the end of summer, the House will have nine committee rooms equipped with video capabilities.
