Norwalk opened with a 3.5-1.5 win over Mansfield Madison, then followed with a 6-0 win over Clyde. The Truckers then defeated Bellevue, 5.5-0.5.
For Norwalk, Zach Crane and Gavin Koelsch were both 3-0, while Carter Kluding and Ian Minor both finished 2-1. Finishing 2-0-1 for the Truckers included Kyle Smith and Justin Sommers.
Other teams at the tournament, which included match play, alternate shot and 4-ball, included Van Buren, Tiffin Columbian and the host Whippets.
“Really proud of how our players competed today,” Norwalk coach Wes Douglas said. “They enjoyed the format, the competition and the pressure of a different type. Hopefully we gained some confidence and experience that will carry us this week at Perkins, Clyde and Ashland.
“Each player contributed today, which is always nice to see,” he added. “Zach played really well down the stretch and it was Gavin’s first time out after an injury, and he really contributed to the championship.”
New London 183, Loudonville 191
NEW LONDON — The Wildcats won by eight strokes in their first dual match of the season on Monday at Millstone Hills.
For New London, Sean Armold led the way with a 43. He was followed by Sean Andolsek (45), Carter Eibel (47), Marcus Mayhorn (48), Kotiana Barber (52) and Dax Amburgy (58).
New London is at Plymouth today in a Firelands Conference matchup.
Norwalk 223, Vermilion 234
NORWALK — The Truckers improved to 2-0 in SBC Lake Division play with Monday’s win over visiting Vermilion at Eagle Creek Golf Course.
Leading Norwalk on Monday was Noelle Jackson with a 50, closely followed by Hannah Dumbeck with a 51. Also for Norwalk, Chloe Thomas shot a 58, followed by Mylea Barber (64), Caitlin Harris (76) and Mya Binkley (78).
Huron 178, Willard 262
WILLARD — Huron improved to 2-0 in dual matches with an easy win over Willard at Willard Golf Club.
For Willard, it was Tatum Combs (60), Lauren Stover (72), Allison Beebe (65) and Marissa Rojas (65) scoring for the Flashes.
Norwalk 5, Port Clinton 0
PORT CLINTON — Norwalk won its third straight match to start the season with Monday’s 5-0 win over host Port Clinton in a non-league matchup.
Norwalk (3-0) will visit Edison on Wednesday prior to hosting its doubles tournament on Saturday.
At first singles, it was Megan Berry outlasting Alaina Dackermann, 4-6, 7-6 (2), 10-2. Gabby Horowitz (6-0, 6-4) and Emma Trost (6-1, 6-3) won at third singles for the Truckers.
The No. 1 doubles team of Mara Berry and Alexa Moore won with a sweep (6-0, 6-0), then Lauren Metcalf and Erin Bleile won at second doubles with a 6-3, 6-1 win.
Willard 4, Galion 1
GALION — The Crimson Flashes picked up a big non-league win over the host Tigers in their first dual match of the season on Monday.
At first singles, Willard’s Addy Paxton topped Katherine Talbott (7-5, 6-2), while Natalie Van Zoest followed with a three-set win over Elli Chandler (4-6, 6-2, 6-1).
Galion’s lone win was at third singles as Katie Baughn topped Macey Compton (6-0, 6-2).
The Willard No. 1 doubles team of Kennedy Daub and Whitney Robinson won by scores of 6-3, 6-0 over Anna Court and Orchid Parsons. At second doubles, it was Willard’s Kalli Sowers and Becca Slone over Lydia McCabe and Taylor Henry (6-0, 6-1).
Edison 4, Bellevue 1
MILAN — The Chargers dropped a marathon match at first singles, but swept from there for a non-league win over visiting Bellevue on Monday at Edison Park.
Bellevue’s Rayven Whyde topped Jayla Medina at first singles, 7-5, 1-6, 7-6 (5).
At second singles, Edison’s Emily Vogus beat Summer Strunk (6-1, 6-0), and All Vogus topped Kaitlyn Cullen at third singles (7-5, 6-4).
At first doubles, the Edison team of Kaylee Ries and Torri Keyser defeated Bellevue’s Leighann Motley and Alivia Hamons (6-3, 6-1). At second doubles, it was Lindsey Kowalski and Emily Moore over Perla Monreal and Ella Little (6-2, 6-4).
