Nunez, a senior, shot a 77 to finish a stroke behind Bowling Green’s Jack Hanus. Trucker senior Cam Nickoli tied for sixth with an 81 and senior Jared Kessler tied for eighth with an 82. Senior Grant Fisher rounded out the team’s four-man score of 326 by tying for 21st with an 86.
Norwalk sophomore Carter Kluding shot a 98 to tie for 40th.
It’s the 12th time in the last 15 years the Truckers have advanced to the district tournament.
“This is our first sectional title in that time that I can remember,” Norwalk coach Wes Douglas said. “Our seniors were outstanding, and it was a great learning day for Carter. It will take a great effort next week to move on to Columbus.
“Coach (Jeff) Todd and I are proud of this entire group, and we believe they are capable of playing in Columbus,” he added. “Our players have been a great representation of our program on and off the course.”
Lima Shawnee was runner-up with a 330, while Ashland shot a 331 to take third. Bowling Green finished with a 333 to place fourth and Lexington grabbed the final district-qualifying spot by placing fifth with a 339.
Clyde was ninth with a 380 and Sandusky placed 14th with a 593.
The top five teams and top five individuals not on a qualifying team advanced the Div. I district tournament at Red Hawk Run on Oct. 12.
