WILLARD — Willard Fire & Rescue is opening its doors and inviting the public to come in and celebrate National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week on Saturday.

Sticking with tradition, the open house will focus on education, prevention and will also offer parents and children a hands-on look at life-saving measures.

“The purpose of National EMS Week is to bring together our residents and fire and medical personnel,” Capt. John Weiss said. “Willard Fire & Rescue is hosting an open house in hopes of educating our residents and visitors, as well as honor the dedication of those who provide life-saving services.”

The open house, which will take place at Willard Fire & Rescue, 425 Fort Ball Road, Willard is scheduled from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. May 18. Among many planned activities for visitors, firefighters will provide hands-only CPR demonstrations, tours of the fire station, ambulances and fire trucks, blood pressure screenings, FAST stroke education, life-saving equipment demonstrations and the Huron County Safe Communities Coalition fatal vision goggles.

Held in conjunction with EMS Week, May 19-25, the open house will offer family-friendly activities and light refreshments.
