The blaze was out by the time the Norwalk Fire Department arrived at 26 Spring St., Apt. A-19, at 7:24 p.m. Norwalk Police Officer David Ditz used a fire extinguisher to put out the small fire.
“Officer David Ditz did a great job,” Chief John Soisson said.
Nine firefighters in four trucks responded to the scene.
There was moderate smoke coming out of the apartment upon arrival, Lt. Jeff Phillips wrote in his report.
“We used a water can to wet the area around the fire. There was minor damage. We checked the area around the stove for extension and found no problems,” he added.
Firefighters had the blaze under control at 7:35 p.m. and left the scene at 8:11.
“That was a very minor fire. That was grease on top of the stove,” Soisson said.
