In 1982, Michel returned to Tiffin to serve as the director of vocations and to teach part-time at Calvert High School. Continuing her similar work for the Sisters of St. Francis, she became pastoral associate at St. John Church in Delphos. In 1987 and 1988, Michel received training in spiritual direction at the Institute for Spiritual Leadership in Chicago to prepare for her role as a novice director and her future ministry as a spiritual director.
The sister served as a member of the retreat staff at the Franciscan Renewal Center (aka Pilgrim House) in Carey from 1988-1994 while assuming responsibilities as novice director for her congregation. She returned to Tiffin in 1990, having been elected a community counselor. She continued retreat ministry and spiritual direction and also served as community liturgist at St. Francis Convent.
After two terms in leadership, she was appointed pastoral leader for the parish St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wakeman, a position she held for eight years. In 2006, Michel again returned to Tiffin to serve as a community counselor and director of vocation ministry. She continued to utilize her leadership skills as a member of the leadership team of the Sisters of St. Francis and continued her spiritual direction and retreat ministry.
