NEW LONDON — Joe Thomas, park supervisor, told council Monday, “Everything is going very well in preparing for the Labor Day Firelands Festival. We have more events than we have ever had.”

The festival starts Friday, Aug. 31 and ends Labor Day. Presale tickets are available at the village office and Gilbert’s Hardware.

Administrator Shawn Pickworth reported crews worked through the night of Aug. 4 and into the next day to repair a major water leak on West Main Street and restore service.

Council introduced an ordinance prohibiting private docks and moorings on the New London Reservoir and one relating to cemetery foundations. A resolution adopting a new fee schedule for zoning permits was passed as an emergency.

A workshop was set for 6 p.m. Aug. 27 at the sewer plant to inform council about plans to begin engineering for future improvements.
