MONROEVILLE — St. Joseph Parish Church, 66 Chapel St,, is having its 56th annual festival Aug. 6 and 7.

There will be events for people of all ages, including children’s activities, face painting, bingo and a silent auction.

“We have a beautiful quilt that the ladies of the parish put together each year,” said event organizer Susie Lohmann.

Tickets for the quilt are the same price as for the big ticket raffle, $1 for one or $5 for six.

Saturday is “Adults Night Out,” from 6 through 11 p.m. There will be food — including BBQ wings, burgers, bratwurst and fries — beverages, music and an amateur euchre tournament. Children aren’t encouraged to attend.

The cost to enter the tournament is a $10 buy-in with a 50-percent split payback between winners. Registration is from 6 to 7:15 p.m. with the game beginning at 7:30.

The festival will follow up Sunday with a barbecue dinner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m, or whenever supplies run out. A reverse raffle will follow at 6 p.m.

Last year, the church did 3,200 dinners, Lohmann said.

Tickets for the raffle may be purchased after Mass on Sunday for $100 each or at the parish office during business hours, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Raffle tickets include a free barbecue dinner at the festival.

They are also on sale at: Snipper’s, Jems Hair and Nail Salon, Beauty Vault, Fitzgerald’s, Twist & Shout and D & D Smith Winery.

Entertainment by the Firelands Area Dancing Squares Western square dancing group will happen at 2 p.m. Sunday and musician Carlyle Smith will perform from 4 to 7 p.m. There will also be a sub sandwich-eating contest at 4.

There will be a kid’s tractor pull contest at 4 p.m. with registration at 3:30.
