Edison 7th-graders are Power of the Pen regional champs

The Edison Middle School Power of the Pen teams competed in the regional tournament at Lourdes University on March 13.

The seventh-grade team finished in first place and were named regional champions.

Earning individual honors were: Lillian Kreglow (11th place), Noah Proctor (fifth) and Taryn Hahn, first place and seventh-grade regional champion. Eighth-grader Marina Moore also earned individual honors, placing seventh overall.

In addition, Zachary Main was honored for his story written at the district level. His story was named Best of the Round and Best of the Best and will be published in the Power of the Pen book of winners.

The EMS Power of the Pen team also captured the Sweepstakes Trophy for the northwest region. The trophy is awarded to the school with the highest combined point totals for seventh and eighth grade at District and Regional competition.

In addition to Power of the Pen, the Edison teams competed in the Timberstone Writing Tournament at Timberstone Middle School in Sylvania.

The seventh-grade team finished in secnd place with individual honors going to Kreglow (11th), Andrew Gray (fifth) and Sara Gates (third). The eighth-grade team finished in fourth place. Moore placed 10th and Morgan Moon took third.
