SANDUSKY — A series of weather-related school closings in recent weeks did not slow Edison High School’s drive toward a seventh-straight Firelands Challenge championship.

Edison’s team finished 28 points ahead of the next closer competitor after winning its last regular-season match.

Huron High School will join Edison in the championship round for the fourth time in the last seven seasons. Huron secured second place in the standings by winning its last regular season match to move into second place.

A three-team playoff match will determine which team will join Edison and Huron in the finals.

Norwalk, Margaretta and Perkins will compete at 10 a.m. Thursday at EHOVE Career Center.

Edison had a close match with Danbury and Lakota on Monday. Only four points separated Edison and Danbury going into the final segment of the match, but the Edison team answered every question in the American History, Quotations, and Fine Arts categories to earn a high score of 59.

The Round VI matches and scores:

• Huron 48, St. Mary 37, Port Clinton 17
