Edison seniors Chasney, Fidler honored by Berlin Heights Kiwanis

BERLIN HEIGHTS — The Berlin Heights Kiwanis has selected Edison High School senior Isabel Chasney as the September student of the month and senior Alana Fidler for October.

Chasney and Fidler have been chosen for her contributions to EHS and the Berlin Heights and Milan communities.

The extra-curricular activities, honors and awards for Chasney include: Academic Challenge team member (championship team winner the past two years); National Honor Society president; junior class president; varsity cross country; track (made it to state as a team in cross country); youth group member at St. John’s and Monroeville United Church of Christ; Erie County Community Foundation Youth advisory board member; and she won $1,000 at a state STEM competition her freshman year. She also has has taken piano lessons for nine years. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math.

Chasney will attending college majoring, in political science or international relations and hopes to one day end up working in a government or diplomatic position. She is the daughter of Wayne and Wendy Chasney, of Milan.

Fidler’s extra-curricular activities, honors and awards include: Basketball (all four years, second-team district 2018 and second-team Sandusky Bay Conference 2018); volleyball (all four years); softball (sophomore and junior years); Interact Club (co-president during her senior year); student council (co-president during her during senior year); Spanish Club (president her senior year); National Honor Society treasurer (junior and senior years); Spanish National Honor Society (sophomore through junior years); and STEM state finalist her freshman year. She is the 2018-2019 Milan Melon Festival queen.

She will attend The University of Toledo, majoring in the doctor of pharmacy program. Fidler is the daughter of Julie Fidler, of Huron.
