The hearing for Joshua Duncan will be at 11:15 a.m. Sept. 18, according to court records available online. The defense asked for the continuance, a court spokesperson said.
Duncan, 40, is charged in connection with the robbery of an Andover Bank branch in Austinburg Township on Aug. 21. He has been charged with kidnapping, (a first-degree felony, robbery (second-degree felony) and theft (fifth-degree felony). Bond has been set at $500,000 cash/surety only, the spokesperson said.
Duncan's last known address is in Lakewood, according to court records.
Ashtabula County sheriff's deputies say Duncan, armed with a handgun, took an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank early Tuesday afternoon. Duncan fled the scene in a car, then ran into the woods not far from the bank. A few hours later, deputies said they apprehended Duncan as he was trying to steal a vehicle in the vicinity of Woodside and Tote roads.
The robber, wearing a white mask, entered the bank, produced a pistol and fled with an undetermined amount of money. No one was injured during the robbery, deputies have said.
Duncan is a suspect in at least three other bank robberies committed in northern Ohio within the past few weeks and federal charges might be pending, a spokesperson at the FBI's Cleveland office said last week.
