United Fund again sponsoring basket basics

There is nothing better than a few kind words around the holidays.

The Norwalk Area United Fund is again sponsoring its Basket Basics Project to help out those in need.

Here is a letter the board of directors received following last year’s project:

“I was so delighted to get the bag of goodies,” the hand-written letter read. “I told the man that I thought I was getting nothing for Christmas — but the United Fund made sure I got something. Thank you so very much.”

The United fund collects items to hand out. Among the items needed are:

• Bath-hand soap.

• Scrubby/loofah.

• Shampoo.

• Conditioner.

• Deodorant.

• Lotion.

• Powder.

• Shaving cream.

• Razors/blades.

• Hair items.

• Toothpaste/tooth brush.

• Q-Tips.

• Baby items.

• Laundry soap.

• Cleaning supplies.

• Paper towels.

• Toilet paper.

• Tissues.

• Dish soap/dish towels.

• Oven mitts.

• Sponges.

• Greeting cards.

• Gloves/scarves.

• Socks.

You can call the office at 419-668-0269 and talk to executive director Linda Bersche for more information or stop by at 2 E. Seminary St. to drop any items off.

The United Fund has reached 38 percent of its 2019 goal. So far $149,505 has been pledged toward the goal of $390,000.
