Relay for Life is the signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Norwalk’s Relay for Life event also takes place Friday evening but at Whitney Field.
Imagine Norwalk’s live musician and DJ performances and fun will take place from 6 to 11 p.m. Families are invited to come down to Main Street to “paint the town purple” for the Relay for Life-themed decorations and activities, vendors and more.
All are encouraged to get in the spirit and even come dressed, ready for a special parade of the capes and crowns of cancer fundraising and awareness.
The event’s proceeds, including those gathered from the sale of luminaries, will benefit Relay for Life.
Crowds will be “Buzzing the Ave” with cars, which starts at 6 p.m. as well, free crafts in the park, which will be offered by the Norwalk Kiwanis Club, with free helmets being offered by Fisher-Titus Medical Center. The night will end with a movie at dusk in the park across from the library.
Another one of the event’s new features this year is fundraising. Each Imagine Norwalk focuses on raising money for a local charity or non-profit organization.
Businesses and musicians will be doing individual activities and putting their own spin on painting the town purple for the special theme.
