Culver’s, the Wisconsin-based chain restaurant announced its intentions to open a Sandusky location in October. Construction crews have been working on the 5,000-square-foot building for several months.
The restaurant was originally expected to open sometime this month, but Paul Pitas, a Culver’s spokesman, said they are now hoping to open by mid-June, but he didn’t have a specific date.
Culver’s has 700 locations across the country and is known for its “ButterBurgers,” cheese-stuffed tater tots and fresh-frozen custard.
Meanwhile, Chick-fil-A, the restaurant known for its chicken sandwiches, has been a long-anticipated addition to the area, but residents will have to wait a little longer before it opens with no official dates being released at this time.
“While we’re still early in the process, we’re excited to confirm we’re coming to Sandusky and look forward to serving the community delicious food in an environment of genuine hospitality,” company spokeswoman Jackie Jags said. “We’ll have more information to share about the projected grand opening date and franchise owner in the future.”
The zoning department approved the finalized plans for the location on April 17. But it’s still not known when construction will start on its 5,300-square-foot location between Mickey Mart and Culver’s.
“They are currently working on constructing the right turn lane on U.S. 250 prior to starting building construction,” zoning inspector Megan Sherlund said.
