Willard tops Wynford to win fourth straight

BUCYRUS — The Willard boys basketball team stayed hot, winning for the fourth straight time and for the sixth time in its last seven games with Tuesday’s 64-57 win over host Wynford in a non-league game.

With the win, the Crimson Flashes improved to 9-3 overall ahead of Friday’s road game at Port Clinton (1-11), where they will also be favored.

In Tuesday’s win, Willard jumped out to a 20-9 lead and led 28 at halftime. The Royals closed within four after three quarters (48-44), but the Flashes held them off in the final eight minutes for the win.

Willard got a balanced scoring attack in the victory.

Terry Baldridge and Cooper Partout both scored 15 points, with Myles Pinkston also scoring 13. Also for the Flashes, Davon Triplett scored nine, while Brevon Polachek scored eight.

Margaretta, 64, Edison 40

MILAN — The Chargers were outscored by 15 points in the first quarter by the Polar Bears in Tuesday’s SBC Bay Division game in Milan.

With the loss, Edison fell to 1-11 overall and 1-6 in the Bay.

For the Chargers, Larry Kessler scored 12 points, with Lincoln Meredith and Carson Ehrhardt each adding five points.

It will get no easier for Edison, as it is scheduled to play at Vermilion (11-2, 6-0) on Friday.

BELLEVUE — The Redmen led 17-15 at halftime, but got blitzed by the Blue Streaks in the third quarter of Tuesday’s SBC Lake loss.

Sandusky outscored Bellevue (4-7, 1-5) by 18 in the third quarter to cruise to the win.

For Bellevue, Caleb Marshall finished with 15 points, while Garrett Vickery added 10.
