New London tops Crestview for fifth straight

OLIVESBURG — The New London boys basketball team continued to stay hot, winning for the fifth consecutive time with Friday’s 73-66 win over host Crestview in a Firelands Conference game.

With the win, New London improved to 7-4 overall and 4-3 in the FC.

Karson Howell led the Wildcats with 22 points, while Jaylin Moffit added 14 and Jacob Allen contributed 13.

New London got out to a 17-8 lead after one quarter, and continued to lead at halftime, 30-25. The ‘Cats extended the lead to 47-39 after three quarters, a margin they were able to maintain throughout the final eight minutes.

New London has a big FC matchup on Thursday at Western Reserve (8-3, 7-0).

Willard 77, Huron 60

WILLARD — The Crimson Flashes defeated Huron in Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division action Friday to improve to 7-3, 4-2 in the league.

Trailing 17-14 after the first quarter and 34-32 at halftime, the Flashes outscored Huron 26-6 in the third quarter en route to the 77-60 victory.

Brevon Polachek and Cooper Parrott each scored 17 points to lead Willard — which improved to 7-3 overall and 4-2 in the Bay with the victory.

Willard visits rival Shelby on Saturday in a non-league game.

Plymouth 60, Mapleton 42

PLYMOUTH — The Big Red handled visiting Mapleton in Friday’s FC win over the Mounties.

With the win, Plymouth improved to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in the conference.

The Big Red visit Seneca East on Saturday in a non-league game.

 

Oak Harbor 53, Edison 39

OAK HARBOR — The Rockets pulled away from Edison in the second quarter and never looked back for a Bay Division victory.

The Chargers (1-9, 1-5) jumped out to a 15-9 lead after the first quarter, but Oak Harbor came back to lead 27-21 at halftime before outscoring the visitors 26-18 in the second half.

Larry Kessler led Edison with 10 points, while Patrick Amburgy added nine.
