New London blasts Mapleton

ORANGE TWP. — The New London boys basketball team dominated from start to finish in Friday’s Firelands Conference win at Mapleton.

The Wildcats (3-4, 2-3) jumped out to a 17-7 lead, and expanded from there in a 71-40 victory over the host Mounties (2-6, 1-4).

For New London, Karson Howell connected on four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 27 points. He was followed by Ashton Carruthers with 15 points, while Jacob Allen also cracked double figures iwth 11 points.

The ‘Cats led 33-20 at halftime, and 53-30 through three quarters in Friday’s win.

New London is back in action next Friday in FC play when it entertains Plymouth (5-2, 3-2).

South Central 77, Crestview 60

GREENWICH — The host Trojans were surprised by the visiting Cougars early, but dominated the final three quarters to set up a huge FC showdown next Friday at Western Reserve.

The Cougars (2-6, 0-5) jumped out to a 21-11 lead after one quarter, but it was South Central (8-1, 5-0) outscoring them by 12 in the second quarter to go up 38-36 at halftime. The Trojans then kept the pedal to the floor in outscoring Crestview by nine in the third and six in the fourth to win going away.

For South Central, which has a stern test at Norwalk (5-2) tonight, David Lamoreaux had 24 points and six rebounds, and Simon Blair had 23 points to go with six steals and five assists.

Also for the Trojans, Alex Holland had nine rebounds and nine steals, while Isaiah Seidel had eight points and eight rebounds.

WILLARD — The host Crimson Flashes blasted visiting Oak Harbor on Friday for an SBC Bay Division victory at Willard High School.

Leading 13-12 after one quarter, Willard (4-2, 2-1) outscored the Rockets by a 49-21 margin over the middle two quarters.

Willard was led by Cooper Parrott’s game-high 21 points, while Davon Triplett added 15 and Terry Baldridge scored 14.

HURON — Leading by a point entering the fourth quarter, winless Edison was outscored 16-4 in the final eight minutes of an SBC Bay Division loss to the host Tigers.

For Edison, Larry Kessler scored 16 of the Chargers’ 36 points. Patrick Amburgy added seven.

ORANGE TWP. — The Wildcats (2-7, 1-4) were outscored steadily over the first three quarters of Thursday’s Firelands Conference loss at Mapleton.

For New London, Megan Conrad and Gabby Ledbetter each scored 11 points to combine for 22 of the team’s 33 points.

GREENWICH — The Trojans fell behind early and were outscored by 19 in the second half of Thursday’s FC loss to the visiting Cougars (8-2, 4-1).

For South Central (4-5, 3-2), Ellery McKee had five points and four steals, while Ally Burton added four points and eight rebounds. Also for the Trojans, Holly Hale had eight rebounds and five blocks, and Ashley Copus grabbed 10 rebounds while Bailey Mitchell added six steals.
