Antique Tractor Show takes place next weekend in New London

NEW LONDON — The public is invited to the 23rd annual F.A.R.M. (Firelands Area Restorers of Machines) Antique Tractor Show on July 28 and 29 at the New London Recreation Park.

International Harvester tractors and equipment, as well as Cub Cadet and hit and miss engines, are featured at this year’s show. Admission to the show is by donation.

Festivities begin at 9 a.m. Saturday with opening ceremonies and tractor games followed by the tractor parade at 10:30 a.m. and the always popular pie auction at 1 p.m. Danny Beck will entertain from 2 to 4 p.m.

Sunday starts with a church service at 9 a.m., followed by the garden tractor fun pull at 10 a.m., the power wheels derby at noon, the kiddie pedal tractor pull at 2 p.m. and the raffle drawing at 3 p.m. This year’s drawing is for a bright red Farmall M pedal tractor with tickets $1 each or six for $5, available from club members and at the show.

Throughout the show there will be a flea market and craft show, exhibits and demonstrations and wagon rides provided by Gene Kurzen. Also, the Ashland Model Railroad & Rail Fans Club will display a model train layout, and special guests will be members of the Buckeye Wheel Horse Collectors Club.

Proceeds from the show are used for two $500 scholarships for students planning to make a career in the agricultural field, donations to FFA Alumni clubs at Western Reserve, South Central, New London and Willard and donations to the Salvation Army.
